Part 8

Meta Knight, Sword and Blade ran to Kirby’s house, Tiff and Tuff trying to catch up. When the knights arrived Sword kicked the door open and Meta Knight ran in to find Wolfwrath looming over Kirby. The sound of the door being kicked open got the beast’s attention; it was now looking over its shoulder at them. One of its claws was raised as if to strike. Before it could do any damage Meta Knight charged at the beast, which swung its claws at the star warrior who blocked them with his sword. The struggled against each other for a few seconds before breaking apart. Wolfwrath got down on all fours and growled at the soldiers, then it leapt over their heads and ran towards the castle.

Unfortunately, Tiff and Tuff were in Wolfwrath’s path and saw it charging at them. They screamed and ducked; luckily Wolfwrath merely jumped over them before continuing to the castle. Tiff and Tuff shakily got up and continued to Kirby’s house. They passed Meta Knight as he, too, ran towards the castle, sword unsheathed. When they arrived at Kirby’s house they found the young star warrior sound asleep and Sword and Blade guarding the little puffball. Tiff ran up to Kirby and gently shook him awake “Kirby! Are you alright?” while Tuff asked the soldiers “what happened? We saw that monster again, and Meta Knight was chasing him.” “Dedede ordered a monster, and Meta Knight thought that Kirby was in trouble,” Sword said. Blade added “when we arrived at Kirby’s house, Wolfwrath was ready to strike. Luckily Meta Knight fought him off.” Sword took over, “Wolfwrath escaped. Meta Knight ordered us to stay here and protect Kirby.”

At this point Kirby had woken up. He blinked a few times before running over to the pillow where the little fox had slept. The creature was gone. “Poyo!” Kirby frantically cried looking under the pillow, the bed and all over his house. “Kirby! What’s wrong?’ Tiff asked. Kirby ran up to her “poyo! Poyo!” before Tiff realized. She turned to Sword and Blade “have either of you seen a little fox?” Both shook their head, “the only creature we saw was Wolfwrath.” Blade said. “Sorry Tiff,” Sword offered, “but it probably ran off when Wolfwrath showed up.” Tiff turned to Kirby “sorry Kirby. At least the monster didn’t get him.” Kirby looked at the pillow again before he happily cried “poyo!” and yawned. He crawled back into bed and Tiff put a blanket over him. “We’ll stay with you guys and watch Kirby,” Tuff said. Sword and Blade looked at each other before turning to the kids “alright. You can help us keep an eye on things.” Sword said. Tiff and Tuff happily climbed onto Kirby’s bed and sat there for a while, helping keep guard. Finally, though, they fell asleep.

Back in the castle, Sailor Dee was waiting for Meta Knight in their room when he heard a roar close by. Curious, he walked over and opened the door to find nothing. He took a step out of the room when the creature roared and ran towards him. Sailor Dee saw a big wolf-like monster running at him. He was scared, but knew that Meta Knight was probably after this monster, and he wanted to help Meta Knight. He stood to the side as Wolfwrath ran past, then jumped on and grabbed onto a few tufts of hair. Wolfwrath didn’t seem to notice him; it only continued its run around the castle. It didn’t even appear to be destroying the place. Sailor Dee was only slightly relieved that at this time of night all the Waddle Dees were asleep, so none of his friends were in danger.

Meta Knight was gaining on the creature when he noticed something on its back. As he got closer her realized with horror that it was Sailor Dee! Wolfwrath didn’t seem to be knocking the Waddle Dee off, but Meta Knight could tell that Sailor Dee was petrified and that any second he could fall off. At the same time, Meta Knight didn’t want to put his comrade in danger, so he had to be careful about his own attacks.

Finally the monster ran into a dead-end and turned around, ready to resume its run, when it spotted Meta Knight. Sailor Dee, sensing the beast had stopped, slowly lifted his head and looked over the monster’s shoulder to see Meta Knight. He quickly hid his head again, this time in fear for disappointing the star warrior. Knowing Meta Knight wouldn‘t attack with him on the monster‘s back, the Waddle Dee jumped off Wolfwrath and ran past it to the soldier, who readied his sword for battle. Wolfwrath ran at them and again tried to jump over them when Meta Knight raised his sword and cut the beast. It wasn’t deep nor fatal, however now Wolfwrath wouldn’t go very far without having to rest. The beast landed behind them, growled at them yet continued to run back the way it had come.

Meta Knight sheathed his sword “we will be safe for tonight. The monster will not be able to leave this castle before it will have to rest and try to heal.” he turned to the Waddle Dee before continuing “Sailor Dee, that was very brave of you. However I can not put my comrades at risk. Do not fear for me; I have fought this beast before. I will stop him.” He turned and walked down the corridor in the direction Wolfwrath had left, leaving Sailor Dee to make his own way back to the room.

The Waddle Dee was near the kitchen when he heard Wolfwrath roar again. He ran into the kitchen and kept the door open a crack so he could tell when the coast was clear. He saw Wolfwrath stop infront of the kitchen door and look around, then it shrunk down back into the baby fox and continued to run down the hall. Sailor Dee could tell by the way it ran that it was still hurt. He had to tell Meta Knight…no, show him! Sailor Dee quickly ran after the little fox.
