Ch.9
Sonic and Shadow stared curiously at Silver, who stared right back. All of them were experiencing déjà vu, thinking haven’t I seen him before? “How did you get here, and where were you before?” Sonic asked. Silver shrugged “I was taking a walk when the ground opened up beneath me, and next thing I know I’m here. And,” Silver continued, glancing around, “I don’t even know where ‘here’ is. This place looks like nowhere I’ve ever seen.” Shadow shook his head and walked between the other two, heading for where Tails and Rouge had ran off. Sonic immediately ran in front of him, “where do you think you’re going?” Shadow smirked and made to run past Sonic, who stepped in his way again. However, Shadow sidestepped Sonic and kicked one of Sonic’s legs out from underneath him. Sonic fell to the ground with a cry of pain-he twisted his ankle. There was no way he could stop Shadow now…unless…
Silver was looking around, taking in the view, when he heard a voice “Silver!”. Looking over, he saw the blue hedgehog on the ground, clutching his ankle. Silver ran over to help him, but Sonic stopped him. “You’ve got to stop Shadow! He’s that black hedgehog. He’s trying to hurt an innocent bat named Rouge, who’s being helped by a two-tailed fox called Tails. When you see them, tell them that Sonic sent you. I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about me. Got it?” Silver nodded and ran off.
Shadow was skating through the plains when a log fell right by his feet. Glancing back, he saw Silver running towards him. Shadow turned and faced Silver, who stopped a few feet from him. “You’re trying to hurt innocent people?” Silver asked, pointing at Shadow. “Stay out of my way.” Shadow said, and started to run off.
Suddenly, Shadow was paralyzed. As he struggled to move, he noticed Silver walking into view. One of his hands was facing Shadow, palm outward, and the design on the glove was glowing. “I won’t let innocent people get hurt!” Silver proclaimed.

Rouge and Tails were nearing the city, when Knuckles ran into view. “Tails…Rouge! What happened?” He asked, as he noticed her wing. “Shadow attacked her! He thinks she has information that she really doesn’t have. He won’t listen to reason! I‘m taking her to the hospital, and Sonic’s dealing with Shadow.” Tails said, remembering what Rouge had told him as they had ran toward the city. Oh, I hope Sonic’s okay…Shadow was acting weird when I left Tails thought, looking back the way they had come. Knuckles noticed Tails’ behavior “I’ll take Rouge to the hospital. You just make sure Sonic’s okay.” “Thanks, Knuckles!” Tails called as he spun his twin tails and flew off. “So,” Rouge began, “you’re gonna be my escort? My my, such a gentleman.” Knuckles blushed and hurriedly walked in front of her. “C’mon, we’re almost there.” He said without turning around. Rouge bowed her head to hide a smile, and followed him.

Tails was flying over the plains when he noticed Shadow and a white hedgehog. Landing, he ran closer. The white hedgehog appeared to have Shadow immobilized, though Tails wasn’t sure how. Neither hedgehog noticed the fox. Silver was using all his strength just to keep Shadow still, but the black hedgehog was finding the extra strength to be able to move, even if it was just a little. Reaching behind him, he was able to grasp his chaos emerald and induce chaos control. Silver became paralyzed, and Shadow was free. Wasting no time, Shadow began to run when he spotted Tails. Without stopping he launched several chaos spears in Tails’ direction. Tails gasped and ran out of range. Shadow ran past, not even sparing a second glance at the fox. As he ran off, the chaos control wore off, and Silver was free. Also ignoring Tails, he ran off in pursuit of Shadow. Tails ran further, until he found Sonic kneeling in the grass, clutching his bad ankle. “Tails!” Sonic said with surprise as his friend held out a hand to pull him up. “Knuckles took Rouge, and told me to come back here. Good thing too.” Tails looked down at Sonic’s bad ankle. “C’mon, I’ll take you to get that ankle looked at.” Sonic put an arm around Tails, who helped support him as they limped off towards the city…and Shadow.
