Tails had just wrapped up his experiments, when Knuckles came in. “Hey Tails, have you seen Sonic anywhere?” “Sonic, no, not after he left to have lunch with Amy.” “So, Amy finally got to him, eh? Oh, never mind. Just point me in the direction they went.” Tails did, and Knuckles left, looking more worried than amused.

“I read my Grandfather’s journal, and heard about a “Project Shadow”: an incredible weapon locked up on Prison Island. I found and released you from your 50 year long slumber, and in return you showed unrivaled powers and told me of the Eclipse Cannon: a weapon powerful enough to destroy an entire planet. You, me, and Rouge the Bat went out in search of the seven chaos emeralds, which powered the cannon. Of course, Sonic and his friends tried to stop me, as usual. Eventually, we were all wound up onboard the ARK, and we had six of the seven emeralds. Tails had the last one, I found out, but only after I shot Sonic out of a capsule into space! The capsule exploded, and I decreed Sonic dead, only to have my greatest moment destroyed. Avenging Sonic, that troublesome Tails fought me and unfortunately won.
However I got the last emerald from him, and placed it in the Eclipse Cannon power core. At last, victory seemed imminent. Then, my own Grandfather betrayed me! Instead of using the cannon to claim the planet as my own, he planned to hurl the entire space colony into Earth, killing billions! Our future seemed bleak. Then, believe it or not, Sonic came back! I don’t know how, but he survived. Anyway we all teamed up to save ourselves. Me and Tails disabled the alarms, and Knuckles and Rouge helped open the way to stop the ARK. I’m not sure what happened after that, but somehow the others stopped the space colony from falling out of orbit.
That’s when things went from bad to worse. Apparently, there was some sort of “prototype” onboard the ARK, programmed to follow Professor Gerald’s orders. It attached itself to the outside of the space colony, and continued the descent towards the planet. You and Sonic absorbed the power of the emeralds and turned into your super forms. Together, you fought the prototype, and finally destroyed it, only to have us to close to orbit to save anyone. Yet you two hedgehogs showed more power than I have ever seen before, and using your combined strength, sent the colony back into orbit. Back on board, we all celebrated, until Sonic came back. That’s when we found out that you fell to Earth. I immediately sent many of my robots to look for you, since you are a very powerful ally that I did not want to lose.” “And?” Shadow asked, looking quite curious, “did I survive, or am I just a copy…a…robot…a clone of the original?” “I will tell you this, my robots found you exactly where I had found you on prison island. When I got back to Earth, I took the capsule you were in, and have kept it in my base. It is my theory that after you lost consciousness after sending the ARK back into orbit, you subconsciously teleported yourself back to the one place you remembered: the capsule on Prison Island.”
Shadow frowned at Eggman for some time before finally lowering his gaze. “So, that’s why the others know of me. I just wish I could remember the exact events. Doctor, you said that you first found me on Prison Island. Yet I lived onboard the ARK. What happened there 50 years ago, and how did I end up here?” “I’m sorry Shadow, that part I do not know much about. A horrible event took place, and the ARK was shut down for good. That’s all that I know.” Shadow continued to look at the floor, before asking “The Professor was a man of science. Surely he kept a records of his experiments. A record of…me? A record of all the events.” “Yes, my Grandfather kept a journal while onboard the colony, however the government got hold of it when the took him into custody. Then, I took it for myself and deleted the government’s only files on it. Unfortunately, after you saved the ARK, any and all files onboard (which I’m sorry to say also had Professor Gerald’s diary in it) were gone forever.” “Thank you for your information, Doctor.” Shadow said, before pulling out his emerald and warping away.
