Month 2 Day 1-12

Month 2, Day 1:

Today I created a poster requesting able-bodied soldiers to meet with me to discuss enlisting into my soon-to-be army. Knowing that I wanted to be off this planet within a week a added a deadline of five days to seek me for enlistment.

Smith helped me put the flyers up around the city and while doing so we came across two young boys who had noticed my flyers and had come to see me. However, the minute I mentioned the fact that I was trying to stop Nightmare, they both declined. They knew my chances of victory were slim, yet they still wished me the best of luck. I can only pray that I can enlist some help before my departure.

Month 2, Day 3:

Yesterday, after my class had left, a lone young man walked over to me and held up one of my flyers. I explained how I was preparing to stop Nightmare. The young man sadly shook his head and explained that although Nightmare did have to be stopped, he had a wife and two children at home and could not justify leaving the planet to go to his own doom.

Today, however, I enlisted my first soldier. Her name is Angel. She is very beautiful and young, however she is merciless and strong. She has near-perfect aim with a bow and arrow. According to her, her only family is her mother, whom she does not get along with very well. She requested to join me in order to stop Nightmare and to get away from her mother. She is very determined and strong-willed and I have much hope for her.

I also went to the Thompson brother’s to view how my spacecraft was coming along. They both said it should be ready in no more than four days. Until then I will look for more soldiers to enlist.

Month 2, Day 6:

Today is my last day on Mimlin. I spoke to the Thompson brothers yesterday, who told me that the ship would be ready in two more days. I have also found two more soldiers. The first of the two is a man named Jared, who is an excellent strategist, and quite good with a dagger. The third soldier I still have some doubts about. His name is Jeremy and is an orphan. He has no weapons training yet he is skilled with technology, especially at his young age. Not even a teenager yet, I would have loved for him to enjoy his life care-free, yet he insisted that he wanted his life to have purpose. Tomorrow the four of us will leave this planet for destinations unknown.

Month 2, Day 7:

We leave at sunset. I have already said my thanks and goodbyes to Smith, who wished me the best of luck and gave me a small basket of food for the journey. My soldiers and I had already packed food and water, yet I did not wish to be rude and graciously took the basket. Today will be my last class, in which I will leave my students. They have already been informed of my departure tonight and have each vowed to continue their practice of the way of the sword. I can only hope this planet can remain safe.

Month 2, Day 9:

We are now in space. The launch was successful; Smith and my students saw my soldiers and I off, and the spacecraft is beyond my expectations. It appears small on the outside, yet the inside has four small bedrooms which line a hallway that leads from a kitchen-area with a table and chairs to the cockpit, which doubles as the engine room. The Thomson brothers also stated that extra additions could be easily added for more crew members. The ship itself is a deep-blue exterior with a light grey interior. Unfortunately there are no weapons yet, and I fear for any danger lurking among the stars.

After we had launched I gave my soldier a briefing. “We are heading for the next populated planet we can find in order to recruit more soldiers. If Nightmare has sent monsters to the planet, we shall aid the inhabitants as much as possible. Jeremy, I want you to keep an eye on the radar. Let me know the second an inhabited planet appears. Angel, there is a dartboard and several darts in your room. Please practice your aim using those objects. Jared, I need you to devise different strategies for us to practice. Any supplies you may need are in your room.” At this, Angel lifted her hand “permission to speak captain.”

Captain? That was right, I was their captain. However, they were more than mere soldiers, they were living humans and should be treated like comrades rather than sheep. “You need no permission to speak your mind, Angel. All that I ask is to not interrupt me, and follow basic manners. What is it you wish to say?” “I was just wondering what you’ll be doing.” “I shall be in my room for a brief time. Then I shall go to the cockpit and help Jeremy keep an eye on things. I need a moment to think.” They all nodded, I went to my room and began to write in this log book. In a moment I shall return to the cockpit to watch space pass us by.

Month 2, Day 12:

We have already passed two lifeless planets. One was lush and full of plants, yet no animals nor people lived on it. The next one we passed was completely empty, yet it appeared that the was life was once thriving upon it. All that was left was empty riverbeds and small tufts of dead grass. I am not sure whether Nightmare’s armies had anything to do with it or not.

This is our fifth day since leaving Mimlin, yet my soldiers have not suggested turning back nor giving up even once, which I admire about them. Another thing I admire about them is their loyalty to me. I look so strange…some might go so far as to call me cute, yet my subordinates look up to me as their leader. They never question my orders nor my appearance. I have found several times that when I addressed my comrades they knelt before me to make me seem higher; several times I actually stood on something so they would not have to kneel before me. Truth be told, I enjoyed the feeling of being taller than someone.

Kirby yawned and sat up, his feet asleep from not moving for so long. He stretched, muttered a happy “poyo” and looked around when he spotted a small pile of blank paper on a desk. He took one and folded it until he had a bookmark , which he used to mark the page in the book, which he then put away, along with the forgotten-until-now jar of candy, and left Meta Knight’s room, closing the door behind him.

He left Dedede’s castle and headed back to his home. The sun was setting, which meant it was getting late, yet his stomach was rumbling; a reminder that he hadn’t eaten much today. Kirby changed direction; instead of heading home he went into town and to Chef Kawasaki’s. “Hello Kirby, you’re up a bit late,” the chef said, “nevertheless I have some food for you!” Kirby yawned, another small “poyo” escaping his lips and Kawasaki happily went to fetch the young star warrior a decent meal.

Back at the castle a worried Tiff and Tuff left Meta Knight and went to sleep. Meta Knight went back to his room, also concerned for Kirby. Meta Knight walked over to his bed and laid upon it, looking over his room as he wondered where Kirby could be, when his eyes rested on something that caught his attention. He got back up and walked over to his jar of candy. He’d always had something of a sweet tooth and kept this little jar for himself or if Sword and/or Blade ever wanted a piece. Yet now the jar, which was usually near-full, was half-empty. “Someone has been in my room,” Meta Knight softly said to himself, “someone with a sweet tooth.”
