Ch.8

“I don’t think so” Buttercup said before she quickly flew into Sniper and knocked him down, where he didn‘t get back up. He had dropped Bubbles when he was hit, and she laid on the ground next to him. “ Is he?” Boomer asked. Blossom of the past walked over and looked at him for a moment before replying “no. Just unconscious.” She turned to face the others as Buttercup picked up Bubbles and said “let’s go.” The others nodded and they headed out of the observatory and back home.

After restoring their powers Buttercup and Bubbles of the past, who had finally awoken, approached their sister. Buttercup activated the watch on her wrist. A few feet away, a vortex opened. “The Professor made us these so we could take you back home.” Buttercup explained to Blossom. Bubbles nodded then looked sad “I’m sorry Blossom,” she said, “the Professor gave me one to give to you, but I must’ve dropped it when I was knocked unconscious.” “It’s okay,” Blossom said, patting her on the shoulder, “At least you and Buttercup have one, so I can still go back home.” She turned to the other Puffs and Ruffs and said “thank you all for everything. This was some adventure, and I’ll never forget you guys.” “We should be thanking you” Blossom of the future said. “Yeah!” Bubbles of the future exclaimed while Buttercup of the future added, “if it wasn’t for you, we might never have seen our sis again, let alone get these powers.” “Take care, girls” Boomer said. “Yeah,” Butch added, “and thanks for the help. Now Him knows better than to mess with us!” “we’re glad we could help you, Blossom” Brick said. They all shared a quick embrace, then the girls of the past hovered over to the vortex. “Bye guys!” Buttercup said, flying into the vortex. “Bye girls!” Bubbles added, following Buttercup. Blossom merely waved as she followed her sisters back through time. Finally, she was going home.

Back in the past, it was a little after sunset and the Professor was in the living room watching the news. Luckily there was no crime at the moment, and the Professor hoped it would stay that way until the girls got back. A moment later, he heard some voices from the lab “Professor? Professor?” It was the girls! He happily got up and ran down to the lab just in time to see Blossom fly out of the time machine. “Girls!” the Professor said as he happily scooped them up in a big hug, “oh girls. I’ve missed you.” He took them up into the living room and was about to speak again when a Special Report came on the screen, followed by Townsville reporter Stanley Whitfield. “This is Stanley Whitfield reporting from downtown Townsville where it seems like Mojo Jojo is up to his usual business…” behind him a building exploded and at the same time the hotline rang. Blossom ran over to get it while Buttercup was telling Bubbles “made it back just in time! At least Mojo can take a punch!” Blossom hung up the hotline, looked at her sisters, who nodded, and together they flew off towards the city. The Professor called out “good luck!” to them, and could only hope their super-hearing could pick it up as he sat down to watch the events unfold on tv.

When the girls got to the city, it wasn’t as bad as they thought it would be. Only a few buildings had been set on fire, and fewer had blown up. “This isn’t like Mojo,” Blossom said. “Yeah,” Buttercup added, “he usually likes to cause as much damage as possible before we arrive on the scene.” “But where is he?” Bubbles asked. That got them to stop and think things over. “It must be a trap.” Blossom said. As if on cue the girls felt it begin to rain. By the light of the buildings still untouched the girls were able to see that this rain was black. “Antidote X,” Blossom mumbled to herself then yelled to her sisters “fly!” The others flew a short distance and took shelter underneath an underpass. Blossom was about to join them when she felt her powers leave her. Screaming, she plummeted the many feet to the ground before Bubbles flew over and saved her. The rain stopped as quickly as it began and Bubbles lowered Blossom to the ground as Buttercup flew over to check on them. “I’m fine,” Blossom told them, “just powerless. I’ll head home and get some more chemical X. You two need to find Mojo and put him behind bars. But if it begins to rain again, take shelter. Got it?” her sisters nodded and flew off while Blossom began to walk home.

As she walked the night grew darker. There were clouds overhead blocking out the stars, and since many townsvillians went to bed at an early hour many houses were dark. Blossom continued to walk until she felt that someone was watching her. Spinning around she realized no one was there. Feeling foolish she began to continue to walk until she felt the same sensation again, this time underneath a streetlight. She quickly spun around to find nobody. She shook her head to clear it; she shouldn’t get the heebie-jeebies just because its dark. She began to walk again when another explosion came from further in the city. Blossom was hoping her sisters were okay when she noticed a shadow above her own in the light of the streetlamp. Not daring to look behind her she sprinted down the street, positive her pursuer was right behind her.

She took a turn and wound up in “a dead end.” “That’s right Blossom” came a voice out of the darkness. The hair on the back of Blossom’s neck stood up as she recognized the voice. “N-no” shouted Blossom, backing right up against the brick wall that appeared in her dreams. “Yes.” Mojo said, stepping out of the shadows. Blossom’s heart nearly stopped. She new it was Mojo, but she was still petrified by the thought of her, powerless, in a dead-end alleyway with Mojo. He lunged at her and grabbed her neck. She instinctively grabbed hold of his gloves, in a desperate but futile effort to stop him. She felt the air escape her lungs, felt herself grow weaker as she made sputtering gasps and tried to pry his hands off her throat. Blossom’s vision was starting to go black. She felt her body grow limp as her lungs and brain couldn’t get air. As her body gave out, her eyes began to close. Her last vision was of Mojo grinning triumphantly, then of the now star-filled sky as her eyes began to roll up. One last thought she was able to grasp in her mind was that Mojo had finally won. As her vision faded to black she heard a noise she couldn’t put a finger on.

She became conscious a little later. Still to weak to open her eyes, she began to think of what was going on. Am I dead? Unsure of it, and a little frightened to open her eyes yet, she tested to see if she could move. She felt the muscles in her arm working as she lifted her arm and put it back down onto a cool, smooth surface. Before she could think another thought a blinding light was in her face. She cringed away from it and it went away, then she heard a voice. “Blossom?” It was the Professor! Blossom opened her eyes and looked up into the overjoyed face of her creator. “Professor!” Blossom cried in a hoarse voice that hurt her throat as the Professor picked her up in a hug. She looked back into his face and suddenly looked puzzled. The Professor nodded and motioned behind her. Blossom turned and saw herself and her sisters, yet she automatically knew it was the Blossom of the future. Before she could ask, the future Blossom held out her arm. On it was a pink watch like the one Buttercup used to open a vortex. “You left this behind. It’s a good thing we found it, too. Now we’re even. You’ve reunited me with my sisters, and so have I.” “She was the one who found you after Mojo left.” The Professor explained. “Yeah,” Bubbles said, “I was the one who figured out that Mojo was destroying the city from a safe location. He had even created those clouds that rained antidote X on us. So we went to investigate.” “That’s when we ran into the other Blossom, who had already found you,” Buttercup continued, “and while Blossom and Bubbles took you home, I took care of Mojo. He won’t be out of jail for a long time!” Blossom smiled and the future Blossom activated her watch. A vortex opened. She turned to the others “it’s been real. I can’t thank you enough. Townsville can’t thank you enough,” she held up her watch, “and this may not be the last time we see each other. Bye!” She jumped into the vortex, and it closed up. Blossom smiled at where the vortex was before falling asleep.

Blossom made a full recovery and was back to normal a few days later. When she finally had a chance to, she got a look at a calendar. November 20th. She counted back the days and realized that November 16th was the day she came back to the present. If the future Blossom hadn’t saved her, those papers she read in the future would be true. I never got to thank her, Blossom thought, oh well. Next time I see her I’ll say it. We’ll meet again someday. I just know it…
