Misconception: Revenge
Ch.10
Eggman had finished drawing out his latest plan shortly after Shadow had interrogated him, and now his robots were busily assembling his latest creation. Eggman studied his handiwork and laughed. “This will be the end for you, Sonic!”

As Silver chased Shadow towards the city, he came up with a plan. Acting quickly, he used his psychokenisis and focused his energy on the emerald Shadow still had in his hand. Before Shadow could react, his emerald flew out of his hand and back towards Silver, who caught it. Shadow stopped and turned to face Silver, who had also stopped a safe distance away. This hedgehog, Shadow thought, he possesses powers I have only heard of…telepathy. Does he intend to stop me from uncovering my past? As if to answer him, Silver began, “I won’t stand idly by and let you harm innocent lives.” Shadow began to charge at him, launching chaos spears as he sped towards the white hedgehog. Silver immediately attempted to stop the bolts of energy, but nothing happened. My powers…even when enhanced by 2 chaos emeralds…can’t stop these attacks! Silver dodged to one side and used his psychokenisis to freeze Shadow once more. Without his emerald, Shadow could do nothing to stop Silver. Well, Silver thought, at least I can by Rouge some time…

Sonic and Tails were heading for the city when they spotted Silver and Shadow in the distance. There was an odd glow coming from both hedgehogs, and neither of them appeared to be moving. As Sonic and Tails approached, Silver looked over and waved to them with his free hand. Shadow glared at them. Sonic grinned and Tails nodded as they walked towards them.
Suddenly the ground started to shake, making Sonic fall to the ground on his bad ankle and Silver’s hold on Shadow break. Shadow immediately ran off, but only went a few feet before the ground started to shake again. At the same time, Shadow fell to his knees, gripping his head. Silver regained his hold on Shadow, who paid no heed to the white hedgehog.

“Sonic!” Tails called, running to his friend, who was clutching his bad ankle with a look of pain on his face. As Tails approached, Sonic looked up and into the distance. “Tails, help me up. Something’s not right. I smell a bad egg.” “Sonic…we really need to get you to a doc-” “No Tails, this is more important.” Sonic glanced back to Shadow and Silver. “They’ll be fine. Now,” he looked at Tails, “help me up.” Tails obliged, and the two of them headed off course; heading for trouble.
The field abruptly ended at the beginning of a small wood. As the two came closer, the ground shook again and several trees fell. Sonic and Tails looked at each other and hurried into the woods. They didn’t have to go very far before finding the problem: a giant robot. The robot resembled an elephant: it had four large supports that acted as legs, and the body was large and oval. Its “trunk” looked like an oversized faucet. Two “eyes” sat atop the robot, most likely allowing it to see. The monstrosity paid no attention to the two newcomers; in fact it wasn’t even moving. Sonic stared at it, wondering what it was doing in the forest. “Sonic!” Tails whispered in his ear. Sonic glanced at him and noticed that he was looking at something high above the trees. Following his gaze, Sonic immediately found what Tails had seen: Eggman.
The doctor was sitting in his cockpit, grinning down at them. “Finally, Sonic, you have arrived. Now the show can begin!” He activated several controls and the ‘elephant’ began to stomp around. Sonic broke free from Tails and the two separated. Sonic didn’t have much room to run between the trees and the robot, so he was able to hide his twisted ankle quite well. Tails flew high above to take care of Eggman, however the doctor was prepared. He fired out of his cockpit a sticky webbing that wrapped all around Tails‘ body, leaving only his head exposed. The fox fell back to the ground, right in front of the robot. The ‘elephant’ continued to stomp around, almost squashing Tails several times, but never actually harming him. It almost stomped on Sonic, who jumped out of the way and landed in front of Tails. The two looked at each other and realized the same thing at the same time: it was a trap! The robot wasn’t just randomly stomping around; it was creating pits too big to jump out of. And Sonic was in one! Tails, thankfully, was only on the edge of it. The robot lowered it’s ‘trunk’ until it was aimed right at Sonic…
A torrent of water poured down on him as Tails watched, horrified.
