Ch.2
Shadow and Silver continued to walk; hiding from the occasional scientist that didn’t appear preoccupied. Silver remained quiet and let Shadow remember whatever he could.
They were walking past a door when they heard some muffled sounds coming from inside. Shadow made to open the door, but Silver held him back “we’re not supposed to be here. If you open that door, whoever’s in that room will see us, and that would not be good. Just put your ear against the door; I’m sure you’ll be surprised at what you hear.” Shadow did as Silver suggested, and the sounds turned into words, but barely decipherable. Whoever was talking was doing so in a whisper…
“Yes. I understand. That’s right. They call it a ‘prototype’ but I’ve heard others refer to it as a ‘biolizard’…yes, well it is, was, a lizard…No. Yes, I understand. How-however, it has already shown great power and a horrid temper…some are even afraid to go near it…no. No, well, not yet at least. I understand. Yes. Thank you. Goodbye.”
There was a sound of someone hanging up a phone, and footsteps towards the door. Shadow and Silver immediately ran down the hallway and hid behind a pillar. From their viewpoint the person coming out of the room couldn’t see them, but they could see him or her. The door opened, and a person in a white lab coat that hid his whole body from view exited. Shadow snarled and Silver threw his hand across Shadow’s mouth. The person stopped for a brief moment, then briskly walked away. Silver dropped his hand and Shadow glared at him “why did you let him get away! He was leaking information, I know he was!” “Yes,” Silver calmly replied, “he was leaking information. But we mustn’t interfere. C’mon. We have many more stops to take.” He took out his chaos emerald, and Shadow his. Together they chanted “chaos control” and jumped into the portal that appeared.

Knuckles had lead Tails and Rouge to the city where Amy had taken Sonic, and the echidna had stopped in his tracks.
He had no idea where Amy was.
“Well?” A voice behind him asked “aren’t you going to take us to Amy? Or do you want to protect me yourself?” Knuckles turned and growled at Rouge, who laughed, “ha! I knew it! You don’t have any idea where Amy is, do you?” “Of course I do!” Knuckles snapped back, “I just wanted to give you guys a rest for a moment. Now follow me.” They began to head into the city.

Shadow and Silver appeared back on the ARK right in front of a door with an “Off Limits” sign on it. Silver grasped Shadow’s arm to keep the hedgehog from breaking open the door and quickly spoke “inside that door is a small hallway with only 1 other door at the end. Inside that last room, at this very moment, Black Doom is infusing you with his blood. Its best you don’t see.” “Wait” Shadow began, “how can I trust you?” “To be honest,” the white hedgehog replied, “you can’t. All I can guarantee is that we are on the ARK before it was shut down, and all that you see and hear before you is real. You can choose to believe all that I say, or choose to not believe my words, and only believe your eyes and ears.”
Shadow looked at the door, his eyes full of despair, and sighed, before turning back to Silver “anything else?” “Oh yeah,” the white hedgehog replied, “I almost forgot. The people who funded the project heard rumors about monsters and different projects and people not following orders up here, and they demanded proof of some headway. To keep them off his trial, Professor Robotnik gave them a robot he had discovered, and only hoped that it would obey his command to be peaceful. You see, the robot could absorb weapons, and the professor was worried that it would get out of control. So far, there has been no reply from the ‘higher ups’ since then. Do you understand everything so far?” “I think so…” Shadow began, “Professor Robotnik wanted to work on a key to immortality to save Maria. The prototype, the biolizard, was a failure, and the higher ups got concerned that their funding was for nothing. So professor Robotnik gave them a highly unstable robot in order to keep secretly working on a cure for Maria, hoping that the robot would not disobey him. And since the biolizard was a failure, he began to work on me.” Silver nodded “correct. And might I add that the reason you are a hedgehog is based off of 1 of professor Robotnik’s journeys? He came across an old temple, and within found a carving of what appeared to be a hedgehog battling a ferocious creature. The hedgehog showed awesome power, and that was where he got the idea.” “Interesting.” Shadow replied, then continued, “also, I happen to know this much: Black Doom isn’t just infusing his blood into me to give me life; he’s also giving me his chaos control powers.” “So that’s where your powers came from” Silver said, “I always wondered…but no more. We’re done in this part…but I must warn you, it only gets worse from here on. Are you sure you want to continue?” Shadow took out his chaos emerald and looked Silver straight in the eye “I’m sure.”
A minute later they were gone.
