Ch .1

The city of Townsville was quiet in the night. The Powerpuff Girls were asleep in their bed after a day of crime fighting. Professor Utonium was down in his lab, working on several experiments. At the time he was working on a time-machine he had recently built. So far so good he thought at the rate I’m working I should have a new prototype ready by tomorrow! There was the sound of something shutting down and the Professor sighed if only it would stop shutting down on me! Now I have to wait till morning before I can work on it again. He rolled it into a corner of the lab and faced it against the back wall. At least this time I’m not going to allow it to take the energy it needs from other things. Last time I almost lost a very important piece of equipment I had been working on. He stretched, yawned and went to bed.

The Powerpuff Girls were each dreaming their own peaceful dreams. All except Blossom. In her dream, some invisible force was pulling her. She tried to run, tried to fly, all in vain. She was sucked into a hole and fell down…down…down…

Blossom shot up and quickly looked around. Nothing unusual or dangerous; all was safe. She sighed, realizing it was just a dream, and went back to bed, the nightmare just a bad memory.

The next morning the Professor was just sitting down with the girls to have some breakfast when the hotline rang. Blossom flew over to get it and came back into the kitchen a few moments later with the news “Mojo’s up to something in his observatory!” “This early in the morning?” Bubbles asked while Buttercup smirked “ahhh, kickin’ Mojo’s butt, what a great way to start the day.” They bid the Professor goodbye and flew off towards Mojo’s.

It appeared that Mojo was up to something. The telescope that stuck out of his observatory had obviously been worked on. On either side of the telescope was what appeared to be a satellite. As they got closer both satellites fired a laser that connected and turned into a larger laser that shot at the girls, who dodged. “Bubbles, Buttercup, surround and enter!” Blossom commanded. Avoiding the lasers Buttercup flew to one side of the observatory, Bubbles to another and Blossom headed straight for the roof. Simultaneously they busted in on a very surprised-looking Mojo. The girls quickly surrounded him and prepared to fight. Mojo, knowing how futile a fight would be, looked for a way out. There were spaces between the girls, but it would be tricky to escape right past them. Mojo crouched, preparing to flee and the girls came closer. Instead of charging, Mojo jumped, catching the girls by surprise. As soon as he touched ground he ran right out of his observatory. Unfortunately he ran too fast and slipped on his steep stairs. He began to plummet toward the ground, yelling for help. He heard a noise and looked over. Flying down at the same speed he was falling, the Powerpuff girls seemed amused watching his plight. As the ground loomed ever closer, Mojo closed his eyes. Suddenly he was stopped. Looking around he realized that the girls had save him. They let go and he fell the few inches to the ground. “Well done girls!” Blossom congratulated them. “Buttercup, why don’t you take Mojo to jail. Bubbles-” a sudden call for help interrupted her. “Bubbles, come with me! Buttercup, come back home when you‘re done.” They agreed and together they flew off towards their unique destinations. Blossom and Bubbles found the source of the cry was from an old woman who had her cat stuck in a tree. Blossom let Bubbles handle it and decided to go back home to wait for Buttercup.

When she got home she called out for the Professor. Not hearing a reply, she went down to his lab and asked again. Still no reply. She flicked on the lights and went down the stairs. She always loved to know what the Professor was working on. She carefully flew around and came across the time machine the Professor was working on. Satisfied with her findings she began to head back upstairs. It was then that she realized that something was wrong. She was flying, but not getting anywhere. She put on a burst of speed which got her a few feet forwards but then she felt like something was pulling her. Looking over her shoulder she realized that it was the time machine. It was pulling her in! She began to yell for help although she knew that he sisters would come too late; she was being pulled in fast. As she struggled against the machine she felt her power weakening. She gasped is this thing sucking up my powers? She urged herself forward then stopped for a second to take a breath. In that second she felt all her superpowers leave her and she was pulled right into the portal. Using every ounce of strength she had, she managed to fight the time current and reach and arm out of the portal. She grabbed the bottom of the frame of the portal and managed to get another arm out. She began to pull herself up and out when the machine began to wobble. Suddenly the machine fell forward, throwing Blossom back into the time stream as it fell to the floor and shattered.

As Blossom was flung across time she realized that this was probably what her nightmare was about; a premonition. The portal opened up and she fell right into a large body of water. Resurfacing, she was able to get her bearings. She was in Townsville bay and within swimming distance of land. She got to land and began to walk towards where her house was. She passed unfamiliar people on the street who gave her odd looks. She finally got to her house, which actually looked like she and her sisters lived there. She went up to the door and knocked, thinking of a good way to explain this situation to another Blossom. The door opened and Blossom found herself at a loss for words. Standing in the doorway was Brick. From inside the house came Butch’s voice “who’s at the door?” He flew into sight as did Boomer. There was silence, which Boomer broke. “Ghost!” He flew out of sight. Brick and Butch continued to stare at Blossom who could only get out an “I’m not a ghost.” “Come inside,” Brick offered, “I think we need to clear this up.”

In the living room Blossom sat on the sofa between Brick and Butch. Boomer sat on the floor in front of her. She told her story of time traveling, which greatly relieved Boomer, and broke the awkward silence. “Blossom,” Brick said, “this is important to know, and hard to explain, so listen and try to understand.

This is the year 2323. Me and my brothers have lived here all our life. In 2003 you and your sisters were destroyed and our ancestors, the Rowdyruff boys, moved in. I don’t know how they did it, but they found out that after a certain number of years the Chemical X in our bodies goes bad and we die. When they neared that crucial age they created another set of Rowdyruffs and died. This cycle continued over and over again. We’re the 4th generation of Rowdyruffs.” By this time a bunch of questions were whizzing through Blossom’s head along with the days events from that morning at breakfast to when she was knocked back into the portal when the time machine fell. Her eyes widened as she realized what it meant. “What is it?” Brick asked. “The time machine,” Blossom explained, “when it pulled me in it broke. I don’t know if the Professor can save me or not…wait! Are the Professor’s inventions still here?” The Rowdyruffs shook their heads. “We’ve lived here all our life and haven’t found a trace of anything scientific here. Sorry” Boomer said. Blossom tried and failed to stifle a yawn. “Why don’t you crash here tonight?” Butch asked, “you can sleep on the sofa.” Blossom nodded “thanks.” The boys went upstairs and Blossom laid down on the couch. I wonder what my family is doing now. I hope the Professor can get me back. The Rowdyruffs of this time are a lot nicer than the ones I know. She closed her eyes and went to sleep.

Back in the Powerpuff’s universe, Bubbles, Buttercup and the Professor had looked everywhere for Blossom and hadn’t found her. The Professor needed to go down to the lab to check on some chemicals he had been working on. A few minutes after he went down Bubbles and Buttercup heard him calling for them. They flew down and found him in front of the shattered time machine. “W-what happened” Bubbles asked. “Isn’t it obvious?” Buttercup said “the time machine broke. But not when we were home.” “This isn’t good,” the Professor said, “I put that machine facing the wall because it kept on taking energy from things around it. The more powerful a thing is, the more force the machine uses to drain it.” “So, if Blossom went home after we stopped Mojo,” Buttercup said, her sister continued, “and if she went into the lab and ran into the time machine then,” “Blossom is lost in time.” The Professor concluded.
