Ch.1

The monster crashed through Townsville, demolishing the city as it went. The citizens screamed and fled. The Mayor rushed over to the hotline and picked it up…

Meanwhile the Powerpuff Girls were playing a board game. As Buttercup tossed her dice up, the hotline rang. “Figures,’ Buttercup said as Blossom flew over to pick it up, “right when I had the lead.” “Powerpuff Hotline” Blossom said. “Powerpuff Girls, it’s the Mayor. Another monster is destroying downtown!” Not another one Blossom thought and replied “we’ll be right there!” she hung up and turned to her sisters, “we got another monster attack on our hands.” “Another one?” Bubbles asked, “how many is it so far?” “This week alone, four.” “And now number five is gonna know never to enter our town again,” Buttercup said, punching one hand into another. Blossom nodded and together they shot out of the house and towards town.

The monster was ripping a building in half as the Powerpuffs arrived on the scene. “Girls,” Blossom commanded, “plan X-32.” The girls began to fly extremely fast in a circle and had soon created a pink, blue and green tornado. They aimed at the monster who just swatted them away like bugs. The tornado fell apart as the girls broke off of it and regrouped for another attack…

Meanwhile in Him’s lair, the foul creature was watching the events unfold on a tv. As it appeared that the girls were finally getting some headway on the monster, Him scowled, “curse those annoying Powerpuffs! No matter how many monsters, perils and disasters I throw their way they are able to stop it!” Him continued to watch as the girls were able to take down the monster. “That’ll teach him to never come into our town again!’ Buttercup said, dusting off her hands. Yeah,” Blossom said, “but he was tough. I’m just glad there was only one of him. It took our combined efforts to bring him down, I would’ve hated if there were too. There’s power in numbers, but the closer the numbers are the more equal the powers are. We were lucky it was just one monster.” “Yeah yeah,” Buttercup said, “let’s had home before supper’s ready! I’m starved!” They flew off screen. Him reached over to a phone, dialed, and a few seconds later spoke up “Mojo, it’s me. I’ve finally come up with the perfect way to destroy the Powerpuff Girls, but I need your help. Now listen closely…

The girls flew home. It was late November, but the trees still had fall leaves on them, which was odd for this the time of year. The first snow of the season was scheduled in a few days and the temperature was just right for it. The town needed snow, it had been in a drought for quite a while. As they entered the house Bubbles called “Professor, we’re home!” There was no answer. “Maybe he ran out for a minute” Blossom said, “no way, Red,” Buttercup called from the kitchen, “there’s some sort of stew brewing on the stove. The Professor never leaves the house with the stove on, fire hazard.” “I’ll check the lab.” Blossom said and zipped off. A moment latter she called out “girls! Come quick!” Bubbles and Buttercup flew downstairs into the lab and saw Blossom holding up a piece of paper. “What is it?” Bubbles asked as she and Buttercup landed on either side of Blossom, who had put the paper under a lamp on the Professor’s desk. “Read it.” Blossom said.

Dear Powerpuff Girls,

I have your beloved Professor in a faraway place. Even if your searched every place in the known universe you wouldn’t find him, and besides, you don’t have the time. The only way to get him back is to solve this riddle. Once you do, you’ll be lead to another riddle, and another until you find me. I give my word that I will not move from where I am keeping the Professor hidden. You will be timed for this, but I will not tell you how long, and if you fail your Professor will die! Here’s your first riddle:

You must seek out your dad,

Who helped you be who you are today.

He will give you another riddle, so don’t be sad

But he will give little sway.

You must persuade him and he will give in

So good luck to you, better start out today!

Reach the Professor and, you win!

Fail and the Professor will pay!

Bubbles and Buttercup looked over at Blossom, who seemed lost in thought. “What does it mean, seek out our dad?” Buttercup asked, pointing to the line she was indicating. “Think for a minute, Buttercup,’ Blossom said, “it’ll come to you. What I wanna know is who’s behind all this!?” “We’ll find out when we solve the riddle.” Bubbles said, who had already figured out the riddle. “Our dad, our dad, oh, I get it! Mojo!” Buttercup said. Blossom nodded, “let’s go!”

At Mojo’s the evil monkey was waiting for the girls to arrive. He watched from his telescope until he saw streaks of pink, blue and green heading for him. Pushing a button on the control panel, and taking careful aim, the telescope fired a small, thin beam of energy. It was too fast for the girls to dodge and hit it’s intended target. Bubbles went spiraling to the ground, unconscious. “Bubbles,” Blossom cried. “c’mon Blossom,” Buttercup said, “that laser didn’t look very powerful to me, she’ll be fine. But we wont be if we don’t get that second riddle!” Blossom hesitated for a moment before continuing to Mojo’s.

They crashed through the ceiling and into a dark cloud. Coughing, Buttercup choked out “what-is this stuff?” “If I guessed correctly,” Blossom began, then felt her powers completely leave her. She and Buttercup came crashing down and Blossom finished, “antidote X.” As they cleared their heads they realized that they had crash-landed into a room full of lasers, missile launchers and other impressive weaponry aimed right at them. “Uh, Blossom,” Buttercup said, “you got a plan for us to escape?” Blossom looked around the room. If there were exits they were behind these weapons that would surly fire at them if they decided to move at all. Before she could tell Buttercup anything, they heard Mojo’s voice.

“So, Powerpuff girls…or should I say Power-less girls. Because due to my tinkering around with antidote X was I able to create a vapor form of the substance, that is to say antidote X that is not in liquid form or a solid form with witch I laid out for you in a trap that I knew you would fall into. I know this because you girls always coming crashing through my ceiling. You do not use the door as a conventional means to enter my place of residence like other guests would, should I have other guests over. So because I know that you never use the door and always come crashing into the ceiling I planted a trap using the antidote X that you fell into and now you are powerless and cannot inflict harm on me in any way such as eye-beams or punches and kicks. You can fully hurt me without your powers, I am very aware of that, which is to say that I know that any normal person can hurt someone if they try hard enough but I have exercised precaution against such brutal beatings by placing all these weapons you see around here. All of these are remote-operated. They are controlled by a remote device that I have somewhere upon my person, that is to say that I have the device to operate all this machinery that you see before you. However I cannot destroy you, although I truly wish that I could. You stand here before me, that is to say in front of me, without your powers and surrounded by deadly gadgets and gizmos that will surely cause your end. But I am under strict orders, that is to say that someone commanded me to not destroy you, but only get you this far. I understand that you are seeking the Professor and I am to play a part in this, that is to say that I have something to do that will help progress the events taking place around me. I play an important role. Now listen here, Powerpuffs! Like I mentioned earlier I am under orders to not destroy you, but you must, I repeat must not regain your powers. You cannot get your powers back. You may not get any chemical X. What you must do is go to Townsville Zoo tomorrow and meet me there at precisely noon. Not at one, not at eleven, but noon. And bring Bubbles! She is very important to tomorrow’s plan. She has a very big part to play, but she needs to keep her powers. She must not loose her powers. When you meet me at the zoo tomorrow you two must not have your powers while she must have them. Do you understand?” The girls nodded. “Fine,” Mojo continued, “I will show you the way out. I will direct your eyes to an exit to the outside. I will show you a door and you will leave, exiting my place of residence.” He reached into a pocket a pulled out a small remote. He pushed a button and part of a wall behind the girls slide open. “Now leave, exit, move yourselves out of my place of residence.” Blossom and Buttercup quickly walked out the door, which led to the stairs outside the volcano.

In silence they walked down the stairs, and when they finally reached Townsville park Buttercup broke the silence “that was close. I can’t believe he let us slip through his fingers like that.” Blossom nodded “I wonder who…” she stopped. “Hey, you alright?” “Buttercup,” Blossom said, “I figured out who took the Professor! It was Him!” “What?” “Think about it Buttercup, he was under orders to not destroy us. Mojo would only take orders from Him.” “You’re right! But what can we do about it?” “all we can do is play his game. Who knows, maybe at some point someone will slip up and we’ll get our shot at rescuing our Professor!” “Yeah! Hey, d’ya think Mojo gave us enough time? I mean, we are timed at this, does he know that?” “It would make sense that he would. Obviously Him is giving us plenty of time to find the Professor.” “Hey girls!” It was Bubbles. She had awoken and was just about to reach Mojo’s when she had spotted her sisters walking through the park. “What’re you doing,” she asked, landing in front of them, “did you already get the second riddle?” Blossom looked at Buttercup who said, “you tell her. I’m not much of a talker.”

The next day at noon the girls arrived at Townsville Zoo. It didn’t take long for them to find Mojo. He was waiting for them. “Ah, Powerpuff Girls. Right on time. Now listen to me, this is the deal. I have the second riddle back at my place of residence, which is to say that it is not on my person. If you were to search me you would not find it, since it is not with me but back at my observatory. Blossom, Buttercup, you both have not regained your powers while Bubbles still has hers. You have kept up your end of the bargain. You have not cheated to change the odds in your favor. You have not-” “Oh shut up!,” Buttercup yelled, “just tell us the stupid deal.” Mojo scowled. “Very well, I will make this brief, which is to say I will not take long to tell you what the deal is. I will sum up the situation in as few words as possible.”

“Bubbles joins me as my villainous sidekick and you get the second riddle.”
