Part 1

King Dedede grumpily sat at his dining room table, waiting for his supper. Escargoon sat at the other end of the table, trying to calm his king down. “Your majesty, please!” The snail called over the king’s grumbling, “you have to give them time to cook the food and bring it here. You only ordered it a short time ago.” “I don’t care!” Dedede complained, “if they’re not gonna serve me food then they is gonna find a new place to work!” “Sire, you can’t really fire all the Waddle Dees. Nobody else would ever work for you. We’re lucky the Waddle Dees even stay here, the way you treat them, as well as everyone else besides yourself.” Dedede only huffed and continued to wait for his meal.
A few minutes later Waddle Doo came in followed by three Waddle Dees, two of which were carrying a plate of different foods. “Sire,” Waddle Doo said, “I hope these meals are too your liking.” The first Waddle Dee came up and put his plate on the table, which had chicken dumplings. Dedede popped one into his mouth and chewed for a minute before grimacing “this is terrible!” The Waddle Dee quickly ran behind Waddle Doo as the second Waddle Dee came up, this time with a plate of spaghetti. Dedede scooped a forkful into his mouth commented “not bad, but not good either! These Waddle Dees had better shape up their cooking skills else I’m gonna hire myself another monster chef!” The second Waddle Dee also ran behind Waddle Doo as the third one came up without any food. Dedede, slurping up the spaghetti, merely looked at him for a minute before finally asking “well. Where’s my food?” The Waddle Dee looked down at the ground as Waddle Doo tried to explain “this Waddle Dee tried to cook your roast chicken but accidentally burnt the roast. Here’s here to apologize.” Dedede swallowed his food a little too quickly and coughed a few times before getting to his feet. “You ruined my dinner and you want me to forgive you! You tryin to get me to starve!” he yelled. The Waddle Dee cringed but didn’t move from his spot. Dedede reached behind him and grabbed his hammer, raising it high behind his head. Waddle Dee saw the shadow looming over him, looked up and ran just as Dedede sent the hammer crashing down. “Sire!” Escargoon cried out while Waddle Doo also said, “your majesty!” Dedede raised his hammer again and called out “you gonna pay for not givin me food! Anybody who doesn’t folla the king’s orders’ll be kicked outta da castle by yours truly!” Waddle Doo and the other two Waddle Dees quickly ran to the side as Dedede charged at the lone Waddle Dee, who quickly ran out the door and down the hall. Dedede chased after him wildly swinging his hammer. Escargoon, Waddle Doo and the Waddle Dees stayed silent for a moment before Waddle Doo spoke up “time to get back to the kitchen. Come!” He lead the way out the room, the Waddle Dees following single-file. Escargoon went to Dedede’s seat and began to eat what the king had left behind. I don’t know what the king was thinking…this food is great! he thought as he munched on a few dumplings.
The Waddle Dee ran down hallway after hallway, trying to escape Dedede. Luckily, he was faster than the king, but still needed a place to hide. He stopped infront of a door and opened it, revealing a staircase heading down towards to the dungeons. No good. He closed it and ran down the hallway a bit farther until he came to a crossroads and stopped. He could go upstairs, which he knew was a balcony: a dead end. No good either. There was another staircase which lead to another balcony; also no good. The only other option was straight. Waddle Dee heard footsteps behind him and turned to see Dedede swinging his hammer. He dodged the hammer and immediately ran behind Dedede and back down the hallway. He knew his only hope was to find some other Waddle Dees and mingle in with them. That was one good thing about looking like thousands of others; you could hide in plain sight.
By the time he got back to the dining room, he was close to panicking. Usually he would have found a dozen fellow Waddle Dees by now, yet the castle looked deserted. Even the dining room was empty. He quickly ran down the hallway towards the kitchen, hoping he could find some Waddle Dees in there. He was about the open the door to the kitchen when he realized that that would be the first place Dedede would look for him when he gave up the chase. Instead he ran past the door and down the hall for a short while, turning down other hallways and passing several door before finally stopping infront of one. He listened down the hallway; no sound of Dedede yet. He faced the door and knocked a few times, then waited. A few seconds later he heard movement behind the door and saw the doorknob turn. He stepped back as the door swung inwards to reveal…           Meta Knight.
