Ch.6

Back in the past, Professor Utonium was putting the finishing touches on the time machine. Bubbles and Buttercup hovered behind him, waiting for him to finish. “Thank goodness the Professor was able to fix the machine.” Buttercup said, to which Bubbles replied, “yeah. Now are chances of finding Blossom are uh…um…Professor?” “At least 50% more than if we were to build a separate machine.” “Yeah!” Bubbles quoted, “over 50%!” “Just about done,” the Professor said, tightening a bolt. “There!” “Is it really done?” Buttercup asked. The Professor nodded, “all we have to do now is program the machine to open the same portal it opened last time, and we’ll find Blossom.” “Great!” Buttercup yelled. “How long will it take?’ Bubbles asked. “Not nearly as long as this took,” the Professor replied, “maybe a week, tops.” Outside, a November breeze swept through Townville…

And Blossom watched as a few leaves fell from a tree. She had been in the future for two months now, and even though she missed her family, she had adapted well to her new home. It had been a while since their battle against Him, and the demon hadn’t made an appearance since then. The Powerpuffs from the future, the Rowdyruffs and Blossom from the past had moved into the Utonium Chateau. The Rowdyruffs stayed in the Professor’s room and the Powerpuffs in their old room. Crime was low, and Blossom spent most of her time with her future siblings and friends playing around.

But as November rolled around, Blossom began to worry. She knew that back in the past it was also November, and according to the papers she had read, her sisters only had a short time left. She couldn’t get back to the past from here, she could only wait for the Professor to fix the time machine and find her. She wasn’t even sure he could find her, and felt helpless as the days counted down…

The hotline buzzed, interrupting her thoughts. Brick rushed over to get it “yes Mayor? Right! We’ll be right on it.” He hung up and turned to the group “nothing major, just another jewel heist. You wanna take this one, Boomer?” Boomer shrugged, “why not? I haven’t had any action in a while.” He flew out and headed for town.

A few hours later the girls and boys were worried. Boomer hadn’t come home, nor had he said anything about going anywhere else. “We’ve got no choice,” Brick said, “we’ve got to make a search party. We’ll each spread out and cover a section of Townsville. Whoever finds him first let us know.” They agreed and flew off towards the city.

For awhile nobody reported anything. It was getting dark and Blossom of the past was worried not only for Boomer but for her sisters as well. She and Brick met up at Townsville park and waited for the others. When nobody else came, Blossom and Brick looked worriedly at one another. “This is bad,” Blossom said, “do you know of any enemy who would kidnap the others?” Brick thought long and hard then finally said, “yes! I know the only villain who would do this type of crime. I didn’t think of him at first because it’s been so long since he committed a crime.” “Who?” “He’s never said his real name, we only call him Sniper. He’s a master hunter and his dream is to hunt us down. It’s all part of some bigger plan, at least that was what he was hinting at the last time we met. He’s very dangerous, and this is one of his many tricks. The others are being held hostage and are live bait for us to go and rescue. But we have one thing on our side that he doesn’t know about: you. He has no idea that you are in this time, so we can use that to our advantage. He won’t kill them; at least not until I get there, but before that we’ve gotta formulate a plan!” Blossom nodded.

In the volcano-top observatory that once served as the lair of Mojo Jojo, Sniper had the Powerpuff girls as well as Boomer and Butch in a cage. The bars were too strong to break out of and were heat-resistant. They also gave off small amounts of antidote X, which was slowly diminishing their powers. Sniper smirked down on them, a rifle held over one shoulder. “You’ll never get away with this!” Butch yelled. “Yeah!” Boomer added, “Brick’ll save us like always!” “I wouldn’t count on that young ones,” Sniper replied in a calm cold voice, “although I can guarantee that he’ll come.” He stared at the girls and continued, “I must say I am quite surprised that you are still alive and that I haven’t seen hide nor hair of you before today. Alas, if you hadn’t ventured back into Townsville you might not be in this predicament. But the past is behind us now, and all we can do is wait.” “Excuse me,” Blossom said, “but who exactly are you?” Sniper smirked “you may call me Sniper.” There was silence before Buttercup called out, “that it!? That’s all you’re gonna say? You’re alias?! Sniper!? No diabolical plans; no ‘this is the end for you’, no rants?” Sniper only shook his head, still calmly smiling down at his captives…

Brick and Blossom headed for Mojo’s observatory. “Are you sure this’ll work?” Blossom asked. “I sure hope so,” Brick said, “it’s all I got.”

Meanwhile back in the past the Professor took a deep breath, wiped his forehead with the back of his hand and turned to his daughters “I’ve found her.”
