Misconception: Realization
Ch.3
“C’mon,” Knuckles repeated, “we’re almost there.” Behind him, Tails and Rouge were getting tired. “Knuckles,” Tails complained, “we’ve been walking for hours. Do you even know where Amy is? If not, can’t we just stay at a hotel?” “No,” the echidna replied, “we need to stick together, in case Shadow comes after us. Now follow me.” Tails groaned, Rouge sighed and they began walking after him. Tails, having sensed that they were being followed since they entered the city, turned around for the umpteenth time and, like the last times, saw nothing. Rouge stopped to check on him “you okay?” “Yeah,” the fox said, walking back up to her “it’s nothing.” They walked after Knuckles, and Tails looked over his shoulder; this time only seeing a bit of purple as it disappeared behind a building. Deciding it was not Shadow, and therefore not a threat, he continued to walk on, feeling relived.
Meanwhile behind a building, Fang the sniper loaded his gun and peeked around the corner. Tails, Rouge and Knuckles were walking away, and hadn’t seen him at all. He smirked and a walkie-talkie strapped to his belt came to life with static, followed be a voice “do you see him yet?” Reaching down, Fang grabbed the communicator and spoke back into it “not yet. The echidna doesn’t seem to be leading the others to him. Your orders?” “Keep following them. They’ve got to meet up with him eventually.” “Roger” Fang said, placing the device back on his belt. He peered around the building again; Knuckles and the others were almost out of sight. Fang quickly holstered his gun and hurried towards them, keeping as out of sight as possible.

“Stay down!” Silver ordered and pushed Shadow into a nearby wall. Luckily, a wall support hid them from view from the many frantic scientist running to and fro, while commands of “stop!” “halt!” and gunshots were heard. “What’s going on?” Shadow quietly asked. Silver explained “That robot professor Robotnik gave to the higher ups absorbed enough weapons to pose a threat, and went out of control. As a result, the higher ups sent government agents to shut down the space colony. Its all a front! I know for a fact that on Earth, GUN told the people that they were being sent up to shut down the ARK and bring everybody home; they didn’t know anything else about this place. It was all a lie! GUN hated “Project: Shadow” from the start, and had a plan that just so happened to work to this situation. I believe you understand what their true motives are?” Shadow nodded, speechless. It was happening again. Just like last time. “NO!” Shadow yelled, pushing Silver off him and running down the hall. He had ran quite a distance, in full view of many scientist who didn’t spare him a second glance, before Silver caught up with him and threw him into another wall, again hidden by a support beam. “What do you think you’re doing?!” He asked through clenched teeth. “I’m not going to stand around while my past gets ruined again!” “You CANNOT be seen!” “Why not!? I’m alive at this time-I remember this part!” They both fell silent as they realized that the corridor they were in was empty and silent.
Shadow cleared his throat “how many were spared?” Silver looked at him quizzically before answering, “not many. Only a few who weren’t directly involved with you. And Professor Robotnik. He had to be brought to prison to receive his punishment.” They fell silent again and for a few moments there was nothing but silence. Then they heard many footsteps running towards the room. A door that sealed off part of the hallway opened, and Shadow and Maria ran through. Shad, who was with Silver, was hidden from sight from his past self, however he could see what was going on. Shadow and Maria quickly turned around and faced the small group of gunmen who had followed them. The 1 in front raised his gun and pointed it at Maria. Shad, who knew what was going to happen, wanted to close his eyes, but couldn’t…
*bang*
“MARIA!!!!!!!!!” Both Shadows cried at the same time as she fell to the floor. The Shadow from the past glared at the gunmen and charged towards them. In a few short moments the military were on the ground. Meanwhile, Silver was wrestling with Shad, who was trying to get to Maria. “Let me go!” He ordered “no,” Silver replied, “this is supposed to happen.” They both fell silent as Shadow ran back to Maria and helped her up “Maria,” he began, but she interrupted him, “Shadow, never mind about my wound. I’ll be fine. Right now, we need to get off this place!” Shadow nodded and ran onward, leading Maria by the hand. Shad quickly got up and grabbed Silver’s arm. “C’mon,” he said, “I know where we need to go. He quickly ran the direction his past self had went, also leading someone by the hand.

Meanwhile, Knuckles had finally spotted Amy outside of a building and ran up to meet her, Tails and Rouge close behind. Nearby, Fang watched and waited…
