Part 2

Meta Knight stood in the doorway and stared at the Waddle Dee that stood before him. “Does the king need me for something?” he asked. He had no idea why else a Waddle Dee would be at his door. The Waddle Dee quickly shook its head and looked down the corridor again. There was still no sign of Dedede, yet he had to make this fast. He came closer and stood on his tiptoes staring past Meta Knight into his room. Meta Knight followed his gaze and asked “do you wish to come into my room?” The Waddle Dee quickly nodded and Meta Knight stood aside and let him in. The Waddle Dee walked into the room, looking around. Meta Knight closed the door behind him and stood infront of it, watching the Waddle Dee look around his room.
As the Waddle Dee walked around its eyes fell upon a picture on a shelf. He made a beeline for the picture and gently picked it up, staring at it.
A long time ago, Meta Knight had built a giant ship called the Halberd. He also had a loyal crew to help keep it up and running. The ship was long gone now, the crew scattered among the stars. All that remained were some memories and this picture…
The picture was of the Halberd crew, taken before their very first voyage. In the middle of the front row was Meta Knight, and right beside him was his right-hand man, Sailor Dee.
Meta Knight saw the Waddle Dee take the picture and walked over to him, looking over his shoulder at the picture of his old crew. The Waddle Dee looked up at him and moved out of the way, hoping to not be a burden. “It is alright,” Meta Knight said walking over to the Waddle Dee, “you are not bothering me. I see you found one of my old pictures. That was taken a long time ago. The others do not reside on dreamland.” The Waddle Dee looked back down at the picture, then reached out and touched Meta Knight’s shoulder. He turned and saw that the Waddle Dee was pointing to Sailor Dee. Under his mask, Meta Knight smiled “yes. There was a Waddle Dee in that picture. Sadly, I do not know where he now is.” The Waddle Dee looked down at the picture again, then back to Meta Knight, who had looked away. He tapped Meta Knight on the shoulder again and again pointed to Sailor Dee. “I am afraid I do not understand what you are trying to tell me.” Meta Knight replied. The Waddle Dee looked back at the picture then handed it to Meta Knight. He took the picture and looked at the Waddle Dee, who stood infront of him and then knelt before him. Meta Knight was thoroughly confused and looked back at the picture, then at the Waddle Dee which knelt before him, then back at the picture again. Finally he thought he understood, although the chances of it being true were astronomical. He faced the Waddle Dee and in his most commanding voice spoke “stand!” The Waddle Dee obeyed and stood at attention. “Waddle Dee…are you Sailor Dee?” There was no hope in his voice, it was merely a question. The Waddle Dee slowly nodded his head and saluted him.
Before Meta Knight could react there was a pounding on his door and Dedede’s voice came through “Meta Knight! You there! Come on out, I needs ta talk with ya!” Meta Knight looked at the Waddle Dee, which quickly shook his head. Meta Knight ran over to him and whispered “do not worry. I will handle the king.”
Dedede pounded on the door a few more times before Meta Knight opened it. “What took you so long, Meta Knight? I will not tolerate tardiness!” “My apologizes sire, what may I assist you with?” “I got a rouge Waddle Dee running round this here castle, n I want you to find him and kick him outta here!” “I understand, sire.” “Good, cause I don wanna see a sign of him ever again!” Dedede walked off back towards the dining room and Meta Knight closed the door. He walked over to a small alcove in the wall where the Waddle Dee had stayed hidden. “I do not know what you did to upset the king, however I will protect you. You have my word.” The Waddle Dee stood up and bowed again. Meta Knight smiled, unnoticed to anyone except himself, and said “rise, Sailor Dee. I am no longer your leader. That was a long time ago.” The Waddle Dee rose, yet shook his head. He pointed to himself then to the picture which was back on the shelf and saluted Meta Knight again. Forever loyal…Meta Knight thought, then spoke again “I understand. You wish to remain loyal to me. Very well, however there are some rules you must follow.” Sailor Dee lowered his hand and nodded as Meta Knight continued “you must not bow or salute me in the presence of others unless I command it. Also, you must not let the king know that you are the Waddle Dee he is after. Other than those rules you may do as you wish. Understand?” Sailor Dee nodded again. “Good.” Meta Knight replied. He walked over and put a hand on his shoulder…

                                                        “Welcome back, Sailor Dee.”
