Ch.3
I hope Sonic is okay…chaos control really takes a toll on him Tails thought as he worked in his garage, wearing his favorite lab coat (which was a little too big), before he saw a bright flash of light. “Sonic!” Tails called, running toward the glow. The hedgehog appeared, and Tails skidded to a halt right in front of Shadow. The young fox glared up at him and demanded “where’s Sonic!?” Shadow looked surprised and said nothing for a second before passing out…
I was with the one I deeply cared for, and we snuck into an off-limits section aboard the ARK…we planned on eavesdropping on a top-secret meeting between the one who created me, his first assistant, and a man from the government, whose voice sounded very familiar…they were going to discuss the future of the ARK, and my friend and myself, both of us residents of the space colony, thought it to be important for us to hear as well. Unfortunately, all I could hear was the government’s agent talking about weapons and shutting down the space colony, which scared both me and my friend. There was a keyhole which I peered through, but all I could see was part of the assistant…yellowish-orange hair, blue eyes…and a lab coat a little too big for him-the assistant couldn’t be older than eight years old!
Suddenly I was running…leading my friend to safety…we escaped into a room with an escape pod…somehow I wound up inside it…the green-eyed man opened fire on my friend, I saw them fall, I was launched toward the planet…
Shadow sat up with a gasp, and found himself in a bed. As he looked around, he tried to remember his dream…and found that he could easily remember most of it. Especially the young assistant. For some reason, he couldn’t get the image out of his head. However a small noise distracted him, and he looked out the doorway to see Tails standing there, “Uh…well, I’m glad to see your awake, Shadow. I was just checking up on you…you blacked out, so I put you in bed. I hope your feeling ok.”
Shadow took out his chaos emerald and looked at it. “Sonic’s not here” Tails said, noticing the emerald, “he hasn’t come back.” Shadow looked up at Tails, glared at him, then chaos controlled away.
After appearing in a dense forest, Shadow tried to collect his thoughts. That young boy in the lab coat…it was Tails! He looked identical to Tails, but how could that be? And how could Sonic be the one who shot the one I loved? Neither of them were even alive 50 years ago…but what did happen then? …And why can’t I remember any of it?
Shadow began to walk, and he didn’t get very far before he noticed a strange green glow coming from a clearing not far ahead. Running toward the clearing, he stopped a few feet from the opening and he laid eyes upon the Master Emerald. Sitting on the steps of the shrine was Knuckles, keeping an eye out for trouble.

Sonic had caught up with Tails, who told him of Shadow’s behavior, and how Shadow acted before he departed. “It seemed that he was mad at me for some reason, his eyes were full of hate. What do you think is going on with him, Sonic? He’s trying to get his memory back, that much I know for sure. However whatever’s going through his mind is making him act hostile and dangerous.” Sonic replied. “You know what happens when he wants something: no one can stand in his way.” Tails nodded, completely aware of the fact; Shadow was once dead set on killing Cosmo, and good friend of Tails’ and he almost succeeded: anyone that even crossed his path paid dearly. Sonic continued “And unfortunately, getting his memory back is the one thing he wants more than anything, but he can‘t remember it. I think he‘s mad at us, because we can‘t help him.”

In the forest, Shadow stood behind a tree, gazing at the Master Emerald, lost in thought. Professor Gerald Robotnik, the man who created me on Space Colony ARK, he gave me the power of chaos control. With it, I am able to warp time and space to my will. There was someone I deeply cared for…a…a young girl who also lived with us in the ARK…yet I couldn’t save her…That was all he could remember. As he gazed at the emerald, he stepped out from behind the trees, and Knuckles, noticing him, jumped down from the shrine and faced him. “Shadow, what are you doing here? This is a sacred place. Leave at once! Shadow looked at Knuckles and held out his emerald. “Chaos control…Knuckles, what do you know about the power of the emeralds and harnessing them?” “Why do you wanna know that, Shadow? I thought you could already harness the power of a single emerald, be it real or fake, to manipulate chaos control and other abilities.” Shadow replied:
“The power of the emeralds…the power of chaos control…may be the key to solving my past.”
