Ch.5
It was dawn by the time the girls got back home. “This is a waste of time, Bloss, and you know it.” Buttercup said, trying to stifle a yawn. “we will make it in time, Buttercup, you’ve got to trust me on that” her sister replied, entering the house and heading for the lab. They went downstairs and Blossom headed over to where the Professor kept the chemical X. She took a vial and threw of it at Buttercup “catch!” She caught it and looked at Blossom “we’re breaking the rules. I usually don’t care, but, I mean the Professor’s at stake here.” “Him’s playing dirty; so are we.” she replied, pouring the vial over herself. Buttercup did the same. They felt their bodies regaining their powers and flew out of the house towards Mojo’s lair.
Inside his lair Mojo was still asleep. He had received word that the Powerpuffs were on their way, and had waited all night for them, until he finally fell asleep in the seat of one of his many weapons. Bubbles was in another room, also asleep.
Blossom and Buttercup landed on his doorstep and tried the door. It was unlocked, so they ventured inside. There was no sign of movement. “Where’s Mojo? Where’s Bubbles?” Buttercup whispered, glancing everywhere for a sign of life. “I’m not sure,” Blossom replied, “but keep your guard up.” They soon came across another door which was also unlocked. They went in and found their sister asleep on the cold floor.
“Bubbles!” They cried, rushing over to their sister, who was waking up. “Are you alright?” Blossom asked. Bubbles rubbed her eyes and looked up at Blossom, then glared at her and shot her with her eyebeams. Blossom went flying across the room. “Blossom!” Buttercup cried out, then turned to her sister “what’s gotten into you? We’re here to help you!” “Help?” Bubbles said, her voice dripping with evil, “you’re the ones who need help!” “Ok, time to knock some sense into that blonde head of yours” Buttercup replied, flying at her. Bubbles dodged her attack and as she flew past Bubbles grabbed one of her legs and spun her around and sent her flying to the other side of the room. Bubbles saw something out of the corner of her eye and dodged one of Blossom’s eye beams, then quickly turned around and fired her own eyebeams again at Blossom, who was able to dodge. However she was so focused on evading the attack she didn’t see Bubbles flying at her until the last minute and she was punched into a wall. Bubbles heard Buttercup’s battle cry and spun around issuing forth a sonic scream which hit Buttercup full force and sent her flying backwards. Blossom had recovered and looked past Bubbles to where Buttercup was also getting back up. Their eyes met and they both nodded, then both shot towards Bubbles. Blossom used her ice breath but Bubbles avoided it then twirled in the air and managed to dodge Buttercup’s eyebeams. Her sisters flew at her full-force and right before they could lay a hand on her she shot up and her sisters crashed into each other then both fell to the floor, unconscious. Bubbles grinned evilly down at them, then flew out of the room…
Blossom and Buttercup awoke tied together in a room full of weapons. They both struggled against the ropes binding them but couldn’t break free. They heard an evil cackle and saw Mojo and Bubbles approach them. “Bubbles, you traitor!” Buttercup yelled “we were trying to help you!” Mojo laughed “foolish Powerpuffs. Bubbles is no longer good. She has been turned evil by me, Mojo Jojo, which is to say that she is no longer good like you Powerpuffs, but bad like me. I turned her evil, which is the opposite of good, and that is how she will stay. Farewell Powerpuffs!” he laughed again and left the room with Bubbles. Blossom and Buttercup tried to break free of the ropes again, before Blossom had an idea. She covered the rope with her ice breath and Buttercup hit it, smashing it to pieces. They were about to decide what to do next when they heard one of the lasers warming up…
In another room Bubbles was talking to Mojo, “my lord, might I have the clue that the Powerpuff Girls need? I would like to taunt them with it before they are destroyed.” Mojo smiled “of course you can my little minion.” and handed her the clue. Her evil face turned into her angelic one and she gave him a smile “thanks!” Mojo was surprised, “how come you are no longer evil? That machine was designed to make someone evil, and you were put in it so you should be!” Bubbles giggled “It didn’t work. While you were giving my sisters a clue I was lucky enough to find the machine. I thought you would put me in it, and I was right, so I tampered with it. All it did was spray perfume on me.” She giggled again and flew out of the room back to her sisters. Mojo glowered “very well then,” he said, walking over to a control panel, “if you will not live as a villain you will die as a hero!”
Bubbles flew into the room crying “girls! Girls! I have the clue, I have the clue!” Blossom and Buttercup stuck their battle-ready poses but were not ready when Bubbles gathered them all into a big hug. “Bubbles?” Buttercup asked, “I don’t think I understand,” Blossom continued, “first you’re attacking us, and now you’re hugging us?” “I’m sorry!” Bubbles cried, “I really am! Mojo tried to turn me evil but it didn’t work but I had to pretend to be evil so he wouldn’t destroy me and I’m just so happy to see you again please forgive me I didn’t want to hurt you but I had no idea that you were coming so soon and I didn’t have a plan for when you did come but I knew you would because Mojo had another clue but he didn’t let me see it but I knew if he had a clue you would come for it and I hoped you could rescue me as well but like I said I didn’t have a plan so when you came I just came up with one that works thank goodness and I’ve never been so happy to see you guys but we gotta leave now because Mojo knows that I’m good and he plans to destroy us and I have the clue we need so lets get outta here!” Bubbles looked at Blossom and Buttercup who were looking at each other and again they both nodded. “Of course we forgive you,” Blossom said. “Gotta admit,” Buttercup added, “that was some great acting.” Bubbles giggled and Blossom asked, “you said you have the clue?” Bubbles nodded and immediately dodged as she heard a laser fire. “Enough chit chat lets get outta here! We’ll deal with Mojo later, we have what we came here for!” Blossom ordered and they began to fly towards the exit, dodging missiles and laser that were firing everywhere. They were finally able to leave the weapon room and flew out of his lair and back towards their home. Even outside of the observatory they could hear Mojo’s scream of frustration. They all shared a giggle as they flew back home.
Once back at the Utonium Chateau the girls sat on their bed and read the clue:
Congratulation! You passed the test
And now you have time for rest.
I’m quite surprised by Bubbles’ act
It was very believable, that’s a fact.
And because you’ve solved all my rhymes
While going through Townsville multiple times
The time has come to tell you three
Where you can find the Professor and me.
As you continue to read my rhyme
A portal will open through space and time.
You must go through to finish your quest
As we battle it out to see who’s the best.
You regained your powers already, that I know
And I’m willing to let that one go.
You’ll need all your power to win this fight
All your super power, all your might.
If you win you go home with your dad
If I win you will be destroyed, how sad.
You got this rhyme before time ran out
Just dumb luck, that’s what it’s about!
For this part you will not be timed
I know its had and long to fight crime.
When you are ready come to my place
Where we will meet again, this time face-to-face.
Get plenty of rest and prepare to meet
Victory or suffer the pain of defeat!
The girls looked up and saw that a portal had opened on the floor by the foot of their bed. “Now what, Bloss?” Buttercup asked. Blossom thought for a moment than said “wait a minute, I’ll be right back,” and flew out of the house. Bubbles and Buttercup sat and watched the portal for a few minutes until Blossom flew back in. “Almost forgot about Princess. Caught her flying around again and told her the 24 hours were up. She whined and complained as usual but actually listened when I told her we would consider her for a substitute position, than she got all high and mighty. She put on an expression like Princess’ and quoted ‘a substitute! A lousy substitute!’ A small fight broke out and now she’s in jail again.” she looked down at the portal as her sisters laughed, “as for the portal, I think we’re as ready as we’ll ever be, right girls!” Her sisters nodded, “right!” Blossom nodded back. Don’t worry Professor, we’ll save you! she thought before she commanded “let’s go!” They jumped into the portal…
