Ch.2
“Shadow…?”
Shadow looked away. He was still trying to figure it all out. That figure on the ARK, the one that shot the one I cared for, they had green eyes…but they weren’t the same shade as Sonic‘s…were they? The more Shadow thought about it, the more and more positive he was about Sonic being linked to his past. Another, smaller bolt of pain raced through his head, and he sank once more to his knees. “Shad…,” Sonic began before Shadow held up a hand, stood up, and looked straight at Sonic. “I’m fine.” With that, Shadow took out a green chaos emerald, and amused himself with the look on Sonic’s face.
“A chaos emerald…Shadow, you know that doesn’t belong to you. Give it back!” Sonic ran at Shadow, who used chaos control and vanished from sight. Sonic skidded to a halt, and glanced around for Shadow.
“Just as slow as ever, faker.”
Sonic whipped around to find Shadow standing right behind him. He jumped back and Shadow jumped into the air, hands glowing with electricity. Sonic knew what was coming and ran. “Chaos spear!” Shadow called, as a barrage of spears of energy rained down upon the area. Sonic dodged them all, but was knocked to the ground when Shadow attacked him from behind not a second later. He got to his feet just in time to see the triumphant look on Shadow’s face as he chaos controlled away. “Next time we meet, faker…” Shadow called as he disappeared from sight. Sonic glared at the spot where Shadow had disappeared. “Next time we meet.” Sonic said, and walked away.

Tails was working in his garage, when Sonic zoomed in. “Hey, buddy, whatcha doin‘?” “Oh, hi Sonic. I’m trying to invent a way to…”
Shadow stood on a nearby tree branch, watching the two of them talk and laugh. That fox…Tails was his name. He sure is smart. Almost as smart as the one who created me…or at least as smart as one of their assistants…suddenly a bolt of pain raced through his head. Shadow lost his balance and fell off into a bush. Sonic and Tails heard the twigs snap and looked outside, but Shadow was hidden from view. “What was that?” Tails asked. “I don’t know, but I’m gonna find out!” Sonic said, as he started to run out of the garage. ‘Wait for me!” Tails called and followed. Shadow’s head was throbbing, which meant that a flashback was about to happen, when he heard Sonic’s voice. I can’t let Sonic see me here…he pulled out his chaos emerald and vanished.
Sonic was running toward the bush, Tails right behind, when the bush started to glow. Sonic and Tails slowed, but continued to walk. Sonic peered through the leaves just as the glow faded. “What was that?” Tails asked, looking up at Sonic, who whispered “chaos control…Tails, little buddy, I think its time to have another go at an experiment…”

Shadow sat on a hill several miles away, lost in thought. A glow behind him made him turn around in time to see Sonic appear holding a yellow chaos emerald. Sonic fell onto his face and struggled to his feet as Shadow approached.
Now I remember why I decided to never chaos control again…“Okay, Shadow, out with it: why were you spying on Tails and me?” Shadow stopped a few feet from Sonic and held up his chaos emerald. “Stay out of my past, Sonic,” Shadow warned before he vanished.
