Misconception: Recovery
Ch1
As Silver stood over Tails’ limp body, Sonic hobbled over and looked down at his friend. “Struck down…” Sonic trailed off, still looking at the young fox. “He needs medical help…so do you.” Silver said, looking Sonic over. The blue hedgehog shook his head “I’ll be fine. Take Tails for me, though. Ok?” Silver nodded, picked up Tails and walked back towards the city. Sonic watched him walk off, then headed in the opposite direction.
Knuckles had awoken not to shortly after the hedgehogs had left the hospital. He was alright, except for a minor headache. He grimaced in pain as he stood and glanced around. He was alone…wait! Rouge!
He turned around and observed the area. Apart from the hole in the wall and rubble on the ground, there was no sign that anything transpired here. Worriedly, Knuckles made his way over to Rouge’s room and opened the door. It was dark, and quiet. Knuckles felt on the wall and flicked a light switch, flooding the room with fluorescent light. He saw her bed behind a semi-drawn curtain, and he noticed a small lump underneath the blankets. Walking towards the bed, he pulled the curtain back all the way “Rouge?”
Rouge was lying in bed, and opened her eyes to the sound of his voice. She breathed a sigh of relief “thank goodness its you. I thought for sure it would be Shadow. I heard his voice out in the hallway and unplugged anything hooked up to me. I figured if I acted dead, he wouldn’t harm me. Where is he now?” Knuckles shrugged, “I…uh…well…anyway, he took off, along with Sonic, and Tails and Silver.” “Silver, a piece of jewelry?” Rouge asked, intrigued. “No, Silver, a new hedgehog…it’s a long story.” “We’ve got time.” Rouge proclaimed. Knuckles blushed a little “actually…I-I’ve gotta go see where Shad-” “Nonsense,” Rouge replied, “Shadow’s still after me, right? You have no idea where he could be. And I know you want to protect me, right?” Knuckles stammered, “We-well, I, I…” Rouge smiled.

In a forest, near a pit filled with water, Eggman woke up, holding her head. “Ooh…what happened?” He remembered Sonic, Tails, his robot, and a white hedgehog, then all went dark. Grumbling, he reached into a pocket and took out a remote control. He pushed a button, and waited. Several minutes later, a new cockpit floated down and came to a stop in front of him. He climbed inside and flew off.

Sonic was limping off in search of Shadow. Shadow! What was he thinking?! Falsely accusing Knuckles, then Tails, then me, and attacking us! And me-kill Maria? Its absurd! I’ve never hurt a fly, I would never kill anyone, ever! Shadow knows that much. He also knows that Knuckles doesn’t work for the government, and that Tails was never an assistant. None of us were even alive back when Shadow was created. None of that could’ve been us. Shadow should know that…what made him accuse us? It makes no sense, not at all.
He doesn’t remember a thing from his past, and didn’t even remember our adventure on the ARK. From what I’ve gathered, he’s had a tough past, and he lost a dear friend. He wants to remember, yet he can’t, and nobody knows anything about it. Heck, I don’t even know much, and I didn’t commit anything I learned to memory. But what made Shadow accuse us? It makes no sense…
Well, it doesn’t matter anymore! He’s gone too far this time. Not only did he almost kill us, he was trying to kill us! For something we didn’t do, and something that he has no proof for. I’m gonna find Shadow, and make him talk!
Sonic thought back to right before Shadow tried to kill him. His words “I will finally avenge Maria’s death. A life for a life…” played over and over in his head. He almost killed me. If it wasn’t for Silver…
Silver. He mysteriously appears, and I can’t shake the feeling that I’ve met him somewhere. I would’ve remembered if I ever met someone like him, yet I can’t put my finger on it. Silver…Silver…
“Time for you to disappear, Iblis Trigger!”
Sonic shook his head to clear his thoughts. He was positive somebody called him that once, yet, like with Silver, he couldn’t put his finger on it. He looked up at the sky: sunset was approaching I’ll deal with Silver and this ‘Iblis Trigger’ thing later, right now I’ve gotta see Shadow!
Sonic limped off into the distance.
